Grant Thornton LLP WNTO International Tax Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

As the Washington National Tax Office Tax Manager you work with tax professionals in practice offices with strategic planning, consultation, implementation and compliance services in the full array of tax subject areas. You participate and lead professionals with extensive technical knowledge and leadership positions in professional organizations, in addition to client facing work, WNTO monitors IRS developments, judicial decisions, and other guidance to meet the complex needs of the Grant Thornton tax practice and its clients. The WNTO International Tax Manager is member of the WNTO International Tax team, and will also work closely with members of the international tax practice, on all phases of project and engagement management.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Addressing, researching, and consulting on complex, international income tax technical issues.

  • Working closely with the International Tax Services Solution Family to manage identified risk areas and develop additional risk management tools and procedures.

  • Drafting internal and external communications discussing new developments regarding international taxation.

  • Elevating the Grant Thornton brand by demonstrating thought leadership.

  • Working with other WNTO groups on international tax issues that affect other technical matters (including required consultation matters), such as corporate taxation, partnerships, practice and procedures, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence matters, and prepare any needed internal documentation relating thereto.

  • Creating and presenting training materials and other thought leadership to educate and promote awareness among Grant Thornton professionals on a wide variety of issues, including international tax issues.

  • Keeping Grant Thornton professionals apprised of significant legislative, administrative, and judicial developments in the area of international tax.

You have the following technical skills or qualifications:

  • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA

  • If not CPA eligible:

  • Licensed attorney

  • Enrolled agent

  • At least 5+ years of international tax experience at a law firm, Department of the Treasury, IRS Chief Counsel, or CPA firm.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and either a licensed CPA or attorney.

  • You have strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as within a team environment.

  • You have strong verbal communication skills and writing ability.

  • You have trong understanding of core international tax concepts

  • You have excellent communication, public speaking, research and writing skills required

  • You have related IRS experience preferred, but not required

  • You have the ability to travel as needed
