Grant Thornton LLP Innovation - Lead UX Designer in New York, New York


We are looking for a forward-thinkingUser Experience Designerto jointhe Innovation Design Team within Grant Thornton’s enterprise innovation initiative. In this important role, you will work directly with Innovation Managers, to conduct ethnographic research, employ design and system thinking, ideate, develop prototypes and innovation facsimiles, and test innovation ideas. Through prototyping and related activities, you will build, measure, learn, pivot, and refine the team’s understanding of client and end-user needs and requirements, and provide user-centered designs that articulate innovation requirements to innovation architects and development teams. This role will also work closely with the Innovation Leadership Team to help create our Target Client Personas, which will aid the broader Innovation Strategy at Grant Thornton.


· Conduct research to understand how users interact with innovation solution through methods like interviewing, observation, and testing.

· Provide interaction and interface design expertise to make digital innovations simple, user-friendly, beautiful, and functionally useful.

· Create interactive prototypes to test innovation designs and ideas with users, clients, and service line and market teams across Grant Thornton. Iterate and evolve your innovation concepts into viable, useful digital products that can be productively used to deliver business value.

· Develop prototypes and solution facsimiles that that are used to understand customer needs, validate customer requirements, and inspire client interests in candidate solutions.

· Develop solution prototypes and facsimiles that are used to demonstrate solutions to prospective customers, garner insights about user experience preferences.

· Develop solution prototypes and facsimiles that provide user-centered designs that articulate solution requirements and inform solution architecture and development activities.

· Develop solution prototypes and facsimiles that can be used to demonstrate candidate solutions to clients, solicit feedback, and quickly understand where solution pivots are needed.

· Work with Innovation Managers to facilitate innovation solution workshops, focus groups, and design sessions with internal constituents and external clients.

· Work with Innovation Architects to develop user-centered design and specification documents that can be used to define innovation solution requirements and engage third-party solution developers.


    · ‪5 years of user-centered design, user-experience design, and/or user interface design.

    · Formal user-centered design, user-experience design, and/or user interface design training from reputable institution that provides specialization in these competencies.

    · Direct, hands on experience and proficiency with Adobe XD, or similar.

    · Outstanding communication and facilitation skills; the ability to garner feedback from a variety of stakeholders across different levels and types of expertise.

    · Ability to effectively execute job duties in a collaborative manner and with sound judgement, pragmatism, and a bias toward results.

    · ‪Intellectually curious and able to effectively execute job duties in a collaborative manner.

    · ‪High-impact player supporting multiple innovation initiatives and ideation campaigns.

    · Outstanding communication skills and the ability to integrate with client facing teams to support and enable successful delivery or engagements

    · Must have excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to communicate difficult subject matter in a clear and concise fashion.
