Grant Thornton LLP Complex Financial Instruments Director in New York, New York

As a CFI Director, you’ll assist clients by applying traditional and cutting-edge valuation approaches and methods to a variety of analyses – all with the resources, environment, and support to help you excel. You will lead a team that will perform valuations of complex financial instruments such as equity derivatives, fixed income derivatives, equity instruments in complex capital structures, and contingent claims, utilizing statistical and financial concepts such as Monte Carlo simulation, stochastic processes, binomial lattices, and real options.

From day one, you’ll be empowered by the greater CFO Advisory Services team to help clients make the moves that will help them achieve their vision and help you achieve more, confidently.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Lead projects and services in business valuation analysis and modeling

  • Utilize advanced statistical and financial concepts in building models including Monte Carlo simulation, binomial lattices (equity and interest rate models), and real options

  • Oversee and perform data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, strategic analysis, economic and statistical analysis, valuation analysis, and industry research

  • Oversee and perform research to establish positions on valuation matters, document management, referencing from source documents to analysis, and file preparation

  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively

  • Maintain active communication with the engagement team regarding interim and final deadlines, percent of completion, etc.

  • Lead and support business development activities, such as identification, proposal development, and other pursuit activities at clients

  • Other duties as assigned

You have the following technical skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline, Masters’ preferred

  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross-industry clients at a national level with experience in business valuation and complex financial instruments

  • Certification/license required, CPA or CFA and valuation credentials such as CVA, ABV, or ASA preferred

  • MATLAB experience preferred

  • Demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis of complex financial instruments desired

  • Highly analytical with expertise in financial analysis and modeling, econometrics, statistics, and regression analysis

  • Accounting, finance, financial engineering, and economics knowledge; proficiency in US GAAP preferred

  • High level of expertise with software packages such as Excel, Access, and Word

  • Can travel as needed. Expected travel is up to 5% per year

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s San Francisco office only is between $198,400 and $330,600. The base salary range for this position in the firm’s New York & Boston offices only is between $186,300 and $310,500. The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Denver office only is between $172,500 and $287,500. Grant Thornton is accepting applications on an ongoing basis.
