Grant Thornton LLP Valuations and Modeling Senior Manager in Chicago, Illinois

As a V&M Senior Manager, you’ll assist clients by leading teams that apply traditional and cutting-edge valuation approaches and methods to a variety of analyses – all with the resources, environment, and support to help you excel. While also utilizing discounted cash flow models, trading and acquisition multiples, use of derivatives, binomial, and Monte Carlo simulation models to value businesses, assets, liabilities, and financial instruments such as equity, debt and derivatives.

From day one, you’ll be empowered by the greater Strategy & Transactions team to help clients make the moves that will help them achieve their vision and help you achieve more, confidently.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Supervise and oversee all aspects of Valuation engagements throughout the transaction process, and coordinate the work performed by multiple service lines

  • Serve as the day-to-day point person on engagements; lead meetings and calls with clients and target management

  • Plan, execute, direct and complete valuations for financial and corporate strategic buyers from a variety of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, non-profit, high-tech, real estate, and financial services

  • Understand and manage firm risk on projects and proposals

  • Oversee and apply business valuation approaches and methods to a variety of tangible and non-tangible assets, including equity valuations, option analyses, and purchase allocations

  • Oversee the assembly, maintenance, and finalization of working papers that support valuations

  • Manage client expectations concerning project deliverables and deadlines and lead change efforts effectively.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and cross-sell services.

  • Manage business development activities, such as proposals, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership material

  • Work closely with Grant Thornton managers and partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues

  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) externally with clients and internally with all levels of the organization to successfully accomplish objectives portraying knowledge and confidence

  • Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work

  • Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization)

  • Manage, develop, train, coach, and mentor staff on projects, assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews

  • Interview campus and/or experienced candidates

  • Other duties as assigned

You have the following technical skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline

  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross industry clients at a national level with experience in business valuation

  • ABV, ASA, CFA, CPA, CVA, MAI or related license/certification required

  • Experience in Accounting, Audit or Transaction Advisory Services

  • Current knowledge in US GAAP, GAAS, SEC Reporting, transaction advisory services or mergers and acquisitions

  • Purchase price allocation and intangible asset valuation experience

  • Technical background including fair value experience

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects in a rapidly growing practice

  • Demonstrated leadership, business development, recruitment, training, and mentoring experience

  • Can travel as needed. Expected travel is up to 5% per year
