Job Description:Our Advisory Services practice is looking for aDirector to join the new Financial Management – “Advisory Business Line” (ABL). The candidate will be responsible for, but no limited to, the 4 quadrants under Financial Management umbrella: 1) Finance Transformation, 2) Cost and Performance Management, 3) Financial Operations, 4) Shared Services.
Complying to constantly changing regulations requires efficient programs with the right technology and protocols in place that not only complete the task at hand, but also report out information that is useful to the business and falls within regulator expectations. Our Financial Management practice can help clients remediate regulatory gaps, both process-related and reporting, as well as design and implement sustainable models that streamline operations, comply to regulatory requirements and meet business needs.
Projects for the Financial Management ABL will include both business process analysis and requirements definition efforts for remediating gaps in operational performance against regulatory requirements. The Cost & Performance Improvement focus means that these initiatives will look beyond just control points and focus on Finance Process Optimization changes that achieve conformance goals, for example where improvements to data and information access as well as reassigning resource roles for in scope processes and leveraging available business intelligence platforms achieve required business reporting output not available in legacy (non-compliant) environments.
The responsibilities will include: * Managing teams, leading client interactions, assisting with proposals, managing billing, proposal development, opportunity pursuit, client expectation and account management. * Identify and address client needs: building, maintaining, and utilizing networks of client relationships and industry involvement and communicating the value proposition. * Prepare and/or coordinate complex written presentation materials. * Develop client-focused solutions based on understanding strategy, operations and management in a number of functional areas of corporations and organizations. * Utilize previous consulting and industry experience to help companies to set and achieve their long term goals. * Experience in acquiring and managing engagements within a top tier Financial Institutions effectively integrating the areas of Governance, Risk and Finance & Accounting. * Assess compliance risks and controls, developing and implementing compliance supervisory and control solutions and assisting with the response and/or remediation associated with regulatory actions. * Identify and address client needs: develop and sustain deep client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and sell potential new service opportunities; preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials; and defining resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collection. * Lead teams to generate a vision, establish direction and motivate members, create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, and encourage improvement and innovation. * Perform accurate analysis and designing effective solutions to a variety of client issues * Work directly with clients to address their issues and acting as the day to day relationship contact * Access Grant Thornton’s global network to bring the best experience to bear * Writing and presenting reports that document the results of the work performed
Required skills, experience and qualifications: * 10 years experience in Banking and/or consulting – Finance or risk management function, data analytics a plus * Accounting or Finance degree experience working in financial services in a consulting capacity, with a focus on Finance. * Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred * Mega-bank experience a plus * Strong analytical skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases * Process analysis, Reporting & Business Intelligence, Data Analysis & Reconciliation. * Working knowledge of Close-the-books, Chart-of-Accounts, Financial Planning and Analysis & Financial Benchmarking * Knowledge of banking operations and related regulatory issues * Experience with development of governance, policies and procedures and reporting processes * Familiarity with the regulations and a strong understanding of the banking regulatory landscape (e.g. BSA/AML/KYC, CFPB regulations, FRB regulations, Dodd-Frank, Stress Testing-DFAST/CCAR). * Candidate must be well-organized and proactive * Client engagement lead experience * Executive presence * Formalized opportunity pursuit experience and competitive proposal development * Relationship development * PMP or related certification required * PMO experience with one or more of the following: * Finance function transformation – enterprise initiative * Large data aggregation (Big-data) or BI initiative * Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills
